Intern, Intellectual Property Protection and Security

Position Summary:
The IPPS Intern will assist with various projects in support of ESA’s efforts to protect its members’ games and devices from infringement.  Projects will focus on research and online enforcement. These projects will provide the intern with valuable insight into the video game industry and a wide variety of legal issues pertaining to intellectual property enforcement and game security issues. The intern will work closely with an advisor to aid in law enforcement case support, online monitoring and enforcement. Duties are substantive and require close attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Draft legal notices to seek the removal of infringing content from websites.
  • Monitor, collect and record data on online video game infringement.
  • Review forensic evidence and participate in auditing vendor performance.
  • Research cutting edge intellectual property and cybersecurity issues.
  • Prepare memoranda and summaries on legal topics as requested.
  • Participate in external meetings and industry events when feasible.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Internet and legal research.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Access to a computer and internet. (This position is remote.)

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Candidates who are knowledgeable/passionate about intellectual property and the videogame industry.
  • General understanding of how the U.S. legal system works.
