Intern, Federal Government Affairs

Position Summary: 
The Government Affairs Intern will help support the Federal and State Government Affairs teams (FGA and SGA) by reviewing and tracking legislation, conducting research, and monitoring conference calls, webinars, and hearings. The assignments will enable the intern to gain insight into the video game industry, trade association, and the multi-state and federal public policy environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and update the federal and state legislative trackers, two separate documents, for priority legislation in Congress and throughout the United States.
  • Conduct research that may include and expand beyond the following areas: video game industry information; federal legislation; federal policymakers; state legislation; state policymakers; key issues and related stakeholders; and key issue opposition.
  • Provide outlooks on upcoming hearings, markups, and briefings that are taking place on Capitol Hill and/or in key priority states.
  • Review the daily industry clips and email the full GA team with any highlights or
  • Monitor federal and state hearings as assigned; prepare reports and
  • Assist with event planning by updating contact lists, informational handouts, legislative packets, and invitation distribution lists.
  • Research and report on special topics relevant to the other general, unspecified support for FGA and SGA staff.

Skills & Experience:

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to keep a consistent schedule for the semester.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite.
  • Writing and other communication skills.
