Senior Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs

Position Title:  Senior Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is the trade association that serves as the voice and advocate for the U.S. video game industry for its public policy and business needs. ESA works to promote and protect the dynamic marketplace for video games and to enhance public trust in the industry.

The ESA is seeking a Senior Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs (SVP) who will play a critical role in positioning ESA – and, by extension, the video game industry – as a driving influence in the world by promoting the industry’s positive impact on business, entertainment, culture, and the economy. Through media outreach, social media engagement, partnerships, and advocacy events, this new leader will spearhead efforts to showcase how the industry’s innovative products and creative works contribute to various aspects of American life and will work to elevate ESA as a thought leader to policymakers, media organizations, and other key stakeholders.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the SVP will join ESA’s leadership team and will be expected to provide both strategic and hands-on tactical execution of ESA’s communications and public policy goals. ESA seeks a thoughtful, energetic, and collaborative leader who will build on the organization’s existing communications capabilities, closely integrating communications into ESA’s overall strategy, policy, and advocacy goals. The SVP will drive strategic message development, as well as thought leadership strategy and execution, and manage association-wide communications, including media relations, social and digital media, and member communications.  The SVP will also be responsible for industry research, including consumer, economic, and political research that can be used for public policy and industry messaging.

The successful candidate will have at least ten (10+) years of experience and will be a nimble, dynamic, influential, and results-driven leader who can develop and manage relationships across the organization and with a wide variety of stakeholders, including the CEO, the senior leadership team, and member company executives.  This is an outstanding opportunity to work with engaged member companies, to collaborate with a talented and committed staff, and to take on a broad role with the ability to have a tremendous impact on the future of a vibrant, and ever-evolving industry.
