Michael Lewis has served as ESA’s Vice President & Associate General Counsel since 2024. Michael joined ESA in 2018 as Vice President, Intellectual Property Protection and Security, where he led a multidisciplinary team of lawyers, analysts, and technology specialists responsible for the association’s cybersecurity, content protection, and intellectual property enforcement programs on behalf of ESA member companies. Before joining ESA, Michael served as Senior Counsel at Nintendo of America, where he managed global brand enforcement, anti-counterfeiting, and anti-piracy programs for Nintendo’s iconic brands.

Earlier in his career, Michael served in senior positions with the White House Office of the U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator, the U.S. Copyright Office, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also served as the first U.S. Intellectual Property Attaché for the Mexico, Central America, and Caribbean region, where he advanced U.S. intellectual property policy and strengthened international cooperation on intellectual property enforcement issues.

His experience across government, industry, and international affairs informs ESA’s advocacy on technology policy and the legal issues shaping the future of interactive entertainment.
