The protection of consumer data and privacy is critically important. The video game industry is committed to taking affirmative steps to protect consumer privacy, including providing consumers with transparency, choice and control when it comes to managing personal information.

Video game publishers and platform operators are committed to equipping parents and caregivers with the information and tools they need to make informed decisions about how their children engage with video games, including with respect to the information they share with the game publisher.

For example, the video game industry provides parents with information on privacy practices applicable to that game or platform. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) uses its Privacy Certified® seal to signify that a website or mobile app is compliant with applicable privacy laws and best practices, helping inform parents and video game players before sharing their personal information.
