Position Title: Chief Financial Officer

Reporting To: President & CEO

Location: Washington, D.C.

Position Summary: 
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of ESA’s senior leadership team and is responsible for monitoring and reporting all financial activities of the association to the President & CEO and the ESA Board, including financial oversight of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), ESA Foundation, and serving as Treasurer of the ESA Political Action Committee (PAC). The CFO is responsible for financial strategy, accounting, cash management, investments, IT oversight, and risk management. This role provides strategic guidance to the ESA leadership team and the Board, demonstrating and ensuring strong fiscal stewardship, regulatory compliance, and long-term financial sustainability. 

The CFO manages a staff of 2, which includes the Controller and a Manager of Accounting and Information Technology. This executive works collaboratively across all levels of the organization, including working with leadership team members, Board members, the Finance/ Audit Committee, and other organizational members in executing decisions with financial implications impacting ESA. 

Key Requirements: 
Candidates will have a minimum of 15 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least five years in a senior leadership role, ideally in a trade or membership association, or similar nonprofit organization. ESA’s next CFO will be a leader who combines financial and operational expertise with emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, and an enterprise-minded perspective. 

Education: 
Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Masters, MBA or other advanced degree a plus. 

Compensation: 
The anticipated salary range for this position is $300k – $350k with 25% bonus eligibility. ESA offers competitive benefits, including healthcare benefits. This position is based in Washington, DC. ESA employees are in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and may work remotely Monday and Friday.
