WASHINGTON, D.C., July 11, 2025 – On July 10, 2025 the U.S. Department of Justice announced the seizure of NSW2U.com and associated piracy websites – one of the largest and most harmful cluster of video game piracy websites in the world. Entertainment Software Association (ESA) President and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis issued the following statement:
“ESA applauds the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice and the Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) for taking action to shut down NSW2u.com and affiliated piracy websites. This is a major victory for the video game industry and helps protect the legal marketplace for video games that generates more than $101 billion in economic impact in the United States alone.”
NSW2u.com operated several piracy websites including game-2u.com, ps4pkg.com, ps5pkg.net, nswdl.com, mgnetu.com and BigNGame.com. NSW2u.com was responsible for the distribution of tens of thousands of illegal copies of video games published by ESA member companies including pre-release content, which is one of the most harmful forms of piracy. The websites had a significant global footprint accruing over 36 million visits from 13 million unique visitors worldwide in a six-month period alone.
The international law enforcement cooperation between the Department of Justice and the Dutch FIOD demonstrates their commitment to combatting international piracy operations and protecting creativity and innovation which are cornerstones of the video game industry.
