Position Summary:
This position will report to the Vice President, State Government Affairs (VP, SGA) and will lead advocacy in the assigned region. This position will also develop and implement strategies to advance ESA’s priority issues and projects as identified by the ESA Board and leadership. This position will coordinate all work through the VP of State or ensure that it aligns with the broader Government Affairs goals.
This position will lead state advocacy efforts by coordinating lobbying strategies, developing policy positions, and managing relationships with state lobbyists and industry coalitions. This position will represent ESA before state legislators, regulators, and other policymakers across states. This position will track, review, and analyze state legislation that could impact the industry, including but not limited to privacy, intellectual property, in game micro-transactions, marketplace issues, e-commerce, trust and safety, digital health, tax, and esports.
This position can be based in Washington, DC, or remotely in a Western or Southern state. ESA DC-based employees are in office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and may work remotely Monday and Friday, unless work-related matters require a physical presence. This role may be filled at either the Senior Manager or Director level, depending on location, experience, and role scope. Remote hires are expected to align with Director-level responsibilities, while DC-based roles align with the Senior Manager level.
Qualified candidates must have an in-depth knowledge of states’ legislative processes, procedures, rules, and calendars. The budgeted salary range for this position is 120-150K with eligibility for a bonus.
