Position Summary

The IPPS Intern will assist ESA’s IP Protection and Security team in the fight against global piracy and unauthorized use of ESA member’s IP, providing valuable insight into the video game industry and a wide variety of legal issues pertaining to intellectual property enforcement and game security issues. The intern will work closely with a manager to aid ESA’s enforcement strategy in the areas of research, data analysis, and reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect and record data on online video game infringement
  • Review forensic evidence and participate in auditing vendor performance
  • Research cutting edge intellectual property and cybersecurity issues
  • Prepare memoranda and summaries on piracy targets as requested
  • Participate in external meetings and industry events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience

  • Candidates who are passionate about intellectual property and the video game industry
  • Experience analyzing and manipulating large batches of data
  • Knowledge of video games and in-game economies is essential
  • Professional writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Programming abilities (python, javascript, html) are a plus, but not required

Work Hours

  • Summer internships are an 8-week program commencing early June – mid August
  • Interns will work in person (Tuesday-Thursday)), and be able to build their daily and hourly schedule based on their education and other life commitments.
  • Interns should be able to work a minimum of 20 hours a week.

Internship Compensation:

  • This is a paid position.
