Reporting To: Vice President, State Government Affairs

Location: Washington, D.C.

Position Summary
The Director, State Government Affairs will develop and implement strategies to advance ESA’s priority issues and projects as identified by the ESA Board and leadership. The incumbent will coordinate all work through the VP of State to ensure that it aligns with broader Government Affairs goals.  This position is based in Washington, DC.  ESA employees are in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and may work remotely Monday and Friday.

This position will track, review, and analyze state legislation that could impact the entertainment software industry while prioritizing issues and events across states. The Director is also responsible for planning and implementing industry events within interested parties across the country, drafting talking points and advocacy materials, and testifying at state legislative committee and chamber hearings.

Qualified candidates will offer a bachelor’s degree in political science, government, or related area plus five to ten years of state government lobbying experience.  A J.D. from an accredited institution is a plus.  Key to success in the role is the ability to collaborate with and direct the activities of states lobby consultants.  Must be able to travel up to 33%.
