New Members Bolster Association’s Digital Games Portfolio
October 4, 2012 – The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the trade association representing U.S. computer and video game publishers, today announced that Wargaming and gloops International Inc. joined the U.S. industry body, increasing ESA’s total membership to 35 companies. Both companies have experience developing digital games, particularly multiplayer and social games, and will augment ESA’s representation of this industry segment.
“Our newest members develop compelling digital games across multiple platforms that allow players from all over the world to connect, compete, and have fun,” said Michael D. Gallagher, president and CEO of ESA. “As the industry expands across channels and delivery mechanisms, we look forward to collaborating with these innovative companies to capitalize on new opportunities.”
Wargaming is a leader in the free-to-play massively multiplayer online (MMO) game market with more than two decades of experience developing and publishing military strategy games for online platforms. On the horizon, the company also plans to release World of Warplanes, currently in closed beta, as well as World of Warships. In June, Wargaming launched Wargaming.net, a portal unifying the online user experiences for all three titles.
“The ESA has a long history of promoting the entertainment software industry’s many accomplishments and ensuring that its members’ voices are heard among influencers and decision-makers,” said Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi. “I am confident that the association’s advocacy work will protect our interests, and help us expand our digital MMO offerings for a passionate and growing fan base.”
