Wargaming and gloops International Inc. Join Entertainment Software Association
New Members Bolster Association’s Digital Games Portfolio
October 4, 2012 – The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the trade association representing U.S. computer and video game publishers, today announced that Wargaming and gloops International Inc. joined the U.S. industry body, increasing ESA’s total membership to 35 companies. Both companies have experience developing digital games, particularly multiplayer and social games, and will augment ESA’s representation of this industry segment.
“Our newest members develop compelling digital games across multiple platforms that allow players from all over the world to connect, compete, and have fun,” said Michael D. Gallagher, president and CEO of ESA. “As the industry expands across channels and delivery mechanisms, we look forward to collaborating with these innovative companies to capitalize on new opportunities.”
Wargaming is a leader in the free-to-play massively multiplayer online (MMO) game market with more than two decades of experience developing and publishing military strategy games for online platforms. Since its establishment in 1998, Wargaming has published more than 15 titles, and expanded its operations to 10 countries, including an office in San Francisco, CA. In particular, Wargaming develops mid-20th century warfare games such as the company's flagship armored MMO World of Tanks, which boasts 35 million players worldwide. On the horizon, the company also plans to release World of Warplanes, currently in closed beta, as well as World of Warships. In June, Wargaming launched Wargaming.net, a portal unifying the online user experiences for all three titles.
