Entertainment software is one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S. economy. This success has generated increased interest in the industry's educational and career opportunities.
385 U.S. colleges and universities offer computer and video game design programs or degrees. From New York University to the Art Institute of Seattle, academic institutions from coast to coast are offering programs in this growing field. The ESA Foundation, the video game industry’s philanthropic arm, has established a scholarship program to help train and educate the next generation of video game developers and designers. Currently, computer and video game companies directly and indirectly employ more than 120,000 people in 34 states. The average salary for direct employees is $90,000, resulting in total national compensation of $2.9 billion.
