ESA Anti-Piracy Analyst
Description
We have an open Anti-Piracy Analyst position in our Anti-Piracy Department to assist in ESA's domestic and international anti-piracy enforcement efforts. This junior-level position will engage in extensive monitoring of video game piracy on various Internet protocols, communication regarding identified piracy activity, as well as conducting investigations into specific instances of piracy. This position will also include some level of program management with online service vendors. In addition to Internet monitoring, this position will work with domestic and international law enforcement agencies in the analysis of seized pirated video game material, confirming their illegality and identifying the rights owners. Such analysis will involve directly examining illegal game products, as well as working with ESA member companies to obtain copyright and trademark information. This position will report to the ESA Manager of Internet Enforcement.
This position will also assist in developing and maintaining informational databases that will provide ESA members with reports on the piracy of their products. These reports will include details on monthly cases of Internet piracy, trends among piracy groups, as well as new technologies that facilitate and inhibit video game piracy. This position will actively contribute to the development and growth of ESA's Internet Enforcement campaign, as well as support other areas of the Anti-Piracy Department as needed.
Skills
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and knowledge:
- An extensive knowledge of the Internet, including the different protocols (HTTP, FTP, Newsgroups, IRC, Peer-to-Peer technology) and online piracy.
- An understanding of intellectual property, including copyrights and trademarks.
- A strong knowledge and interest in piracy, investigations, and the latest in computer and video game technology.
- Strong writing and analytical skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Fluency in and/or a working knowledge of Spanish or Mandarin is highly desirable.
Requirements
Any candidate for the position must have at least the following:
- A bachelor's degree.
- Two-five years of work experience, preferably involving extensive Internet research.
- Proficiency in using common computer applications, including Word, Outlook, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
- A solid work ethic and the proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and demanding work environment, both independently and as a member of a team.
- The versatility to handle and complete different assignments simultaneously.
